Privacy Policy

Ask4Transport (“we”, “us”) operates the Ask4Transport website and mobile app (the “Service”), a negotiation-based transport marketplace connecting customers with drivers and fleet owners across Kenya. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

• Account information: name, email address, and phone number, collected when you sign up (directly or via Google Sign-In).
• Identity and vehicle verification (drivers/fleet owners only): national ID number, driving licence, vehicle plate number, logbook, and insurance documents, used to verify eligibility to operate on the platform.
• Location data: pickup and drop-off addresses and coordinates you enter when requesting or fulfilling a trip, and — for drivers — approximate device location while actively using the app to find nearby requests.
• Trip and communication data: trip details, bids, negotiation messages, and ratings exchanged between customers and drivers.
• Payment information: payments are processed by our payment provider, Paystack. We do not receive or store your card or mobile money credentials; we retain only transaction status and amount for record-keeping.
• Usage data: basic technical information such as device type and app version, used for troubleshooting and reliability.

How we use this information

• To operate the marketplace: matching trip requests with available drivers, and enabling bidding, negotiation, and trip tracking.
• To verify driver and vehicle eligibility before allowing a driver to accept trips.
• To process payments and maintain accurate transaction records.
• To communicate with you about your account, trips, or support requests.
• To maintain the security and integrity of the Service.

Sharing your information

We share information only as needed to operate the Service:

• Between customers and drivers on an active trip — contact details, pickup/drop-off addresses, and trip status, so a trip can be completed.
• Service providers we rely on to run the platform: Supabase (database and authentication), Google (Sign-In and Maps/location services), and Paystack (payment processing). Each processes data only as needed to provide their service to us.
• Administrators of Ask4Transport, for driver/vehicle document verification and dispute resolution.

We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

We retain account and trip data for as long as your account is active and as needed to comply with legal, tax, or dispute-resolution obligations. You can request deletion at any time (see below).

Your rights and choices

You may request access to or correction of your personal data by emailing rwanda@ask4transport.net. We will respond and process eligible requests within a reasonable time.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account directly in the app: open your home screen and tap Delete my account. This immediately removes your profile details — name, email, phone number, national ID, and uploaded vehicle/licence documents — and permanently signs you out.

If you no longer have the app installed, email rwanda@ask4transport.net from your account's registered email or phone number and we will process the deletion within a reasonable time.

Trip, bidding, and payment/transaction records tied to your account are retained after deletion, as we are legally required to keep them for tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution purposes. They are no longer linked to your identifying information once your profile is deleted.

Children's privacy

The Service is intended for users who are at least 18 years old and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

We use industry-standard measures — including encrypted connections and access-controlled databases — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data appropriately.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new “last updated” date.
